Minerva Foundation – open applications 2026

Applications for the Minerva Foundation’s prizes and grants are now open, and we look forward to receiving your application.

The application period runs from 1 April 2026 to 2 May 2026.  Fill in your proposal or application in the online application system: https://minervafoundation.rimbert.fi/. The same system is used for all applications.

The prizes and grants  available for application this year are:

Medix Prize of the Minerva Foundation

The Medix Prize is awarded annually for an excellent Finnish scientific research published as an article in an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal. The awarded article must be in the field of biomedicine or clinical medicine and must have been conducted entirely or predominantly in Finland and published during the previous year (2025). The prize is valued at €20,000.

Ralph Gräsbeck Grant for Research in Laboratory Medicine

The Ralph Gräsbeck grant for research in laboratory medicine is awarded every other year for a scientist who has defended his/her doctoral thesis during the past seven years in the field of clinical laboratory medicine and continued innovative and high-quality research in the same field. The amount of the grant is €10,000.

Selma and Maja-Lisa Selander’s Fund for Research in Odontology

The Selma and Maja-Lisa Selander’s Fund grants 15-25 grants for research in odontology each year. The grants are available to both individual researchers and research groups.

The Minerva Foundation works to support and develop natural science research in Finland, with a special focus on medicine and biosciences. The Foundation runs the Minerva Foundation Institute for Medical Research at the Biomedicum research center in Helsinki. In addition, the foundation promotes medical research by awarding annual research grants and recognizing top-level research.
